So you want to know a little more about RingBranch:
Here's how RingBranch works:
- You sign up for a RingBranch account from our website and we then give you a shared telephone number that is local to you (see list here, and please make sure it’s a local call for you). We call this your RingBranch number. It's a regular US-based phone number with format: (area code)-xxx-xxxx.
- When you call into your RingBranch number from one of your various phone numbers (mobile, home, work, etc), you will reach what we call your Personal Auto-Attendant. Your Personal Auto-Attendant will answer your call and prompt you to enter the speed dial number of the contact you are trying to reach, or, if you don’t remember it, to press * for your dial by name directory.
- You select the person that you want to speak with and then we route the phone call to that person.
- During this process, you will hear a couple of short advertisements. This is how we make money, as we are providing a free service that has real costs associated with providing it. The ads are relevant to your geographic location, demographic and interest. Hence, the reason we asked these kinds of questions when you signed-up. They are designed to be informative and hopefully, valuable to you. As our advertising inventory grows, the diversity of the ads will grow, so in the future, hopefully you will not hear the same ad more than once.
- When your call comes into the contact you have selected, he/she would see either your regular phone number or your Ringbranch number on his/her Caller ID. If your contact answers, you are connected and talk just as you do every day when you make a phone call. If your contact doesn’t answer, you leave a voice mail on his/her regular voicemail box.
- You set up the extensions for your Personal Auto-Attendant through our website. Just enter the first name, last name, and phone number. Come back anytime and add and delete contacts. These changes will be immediately reflected once you dial back into your Auto-Attendant. There is NO software to download and you don’t need a special VOIP phone.
- So far, we have talked about using RingBranch for outbound calling to your friends. But, if you want, you can give your same RingBranch phone number to your contacts in order to receive as well as make phone calls. When they call you on this number, one of your phones will ring just as it normally does and you will be able to see the regular Caller ID of the person calling you, or your RingBranch number (your choice). You designate which one(s) from our website. It's important to note that when they call your RingBranch number, they will not get your personal switchboard, they will reach either you, or your voice mail. Additionally, your callers will hear one ad as they call is connected to you. Again, this is how we make money and provide you with a free service.
